Dong Hai Ward – Towards a National Logistics Hub (2025-2030)

July 1st, 2025, marked a significant milestone with the official establishment of Dong Hai Ward, formed by the merger of three former units: Dong Hai 1, Dong Hai 2, and Nam Hai. Immediately after the merger, the Ward’s Party Committee swiftly stabilized its organizational structure and effectively operated the two-tier local government model.

Notably, during the previous term, the Dong Hai area became an investment magnet, attracting 106 major projects with a total capital of nearly $23 billion USD, focusing heavily on high-tech and modern logistics projects. The robust development of the warehousing system and seaport services has been instrumental in forming the Nam Dinh Vu Logistics Center, solidifying its position as a key highlight in Hai Phong’s logistics network.

Entering the 2025 – 2030 term, Dong Hai Ward faces immense opportunities alongside challenges posed by rapid urbanization and infrastructure/social security pressure. The Ward’s Party Committee has set a breakthrough goal:

The aim is for Dong Hai to become a national-level hub for high-tech industry and logistics by 2030; developing maritime services, commerce, and finance; building a green, smart, and modern urban area, and improving the quality of life for its residents.

To realize this ambitious objective, the Party Committee has put forward three strategic orientations and breakthroughs, with a strong focus on developing logistics infrastructure and high-tech industry:

  • Completing the Nam Dinh Vu Logistics Center.
  • Developing Tier II logistics, E-logistics, and Inland Container Depots (ICD).
  • Attracting high-tech and maritime service projects.
  • Achieving synchronous connectivity among various transport infrastructures: seaport – road – rail – air.

This clear direction provides a solid foundation for Dong Hai to effectively leverage the $23 billion USD capital, accelerate balanced economic growth, maintain national defense and security, and build a streamlined, effective political system. (Source: Haiphong Online Newspaper).
