  • GREEN LOGISTICS: Vietnam Takes the Initiative in the Global Digital and Sustainable Transformation Journey with FIATA

Vietnam’s hosting of the FIATA World Congress 2025 under the theme “Green Logistics, Quick Adaptation” affirms the nation’s determination to develop sustainable logistics. This event, coupled with the Net Zero 2050 commitment, is ushering in a new era for Vietnam’s logistics sector.

I. Position and Transformation Opportunities

  1. Transshipment Hub Potential: Vietnam is highly valued by the FIATA President for its significant potential to become a major transshipment center in the region, thanks to growing production and deep international integration.
  2. Adopting AI Technology: The logistics industry views AI as a strategic advantage for automating repetitive processes, boosting productivity, and providing accurate data flow. This is a crucial opportunity for Vietnamese businesses to enhance operational efficiency.
  3. Enhanced Connectivity: The introduction of the FIATA App allows Vietnamese businesses to connect directly with a community of over 40,000 trustworthy freight forwarding companies worldwide, facilitating market diversification and partnership building.

II. Challenges Demanding Rapid Adaptation

  1. Infrastructure Improvement: The biggest challenge remains upgrading the quality and capacity of transport infrastructure (seaports, roads, railways) to support this development.
  2. LPI Competitiveness: Although Vietnam’s LPI score has improved, its rank (currently 43rd) requires greater effort to reach the Top 20 goal suggested by FIATA, given the rapid improvement of other nations.
  3. SME Access: 90% – 95% of logistics enterprises are SMEs, facing significant barriers in accessing and investing in AI technology. This necessitates unified guidance and support from the Government and the Association.
  4. Supply Chain Transparency: Pressures from new tariff policies, especially transshipment taxes, compel businesses to increase supply chain transparency, which simultaneously presents an opportunity to elevate corporate responsibility.
