  • Seminar on “Optimal Logistics Solutions for Enterprises in Industrial and Economic Zones in Hai Phong City”

On March 28, 2025, the Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority and the Hai Phong City Post Office jointly organized a seminar titled “Optimal Logistics Solutions for Enterprises in Industrial and Economic Zones in Hai Phong City.”

The Deputy Head of the Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority stated that, thanks to its many advantages, Hai Phong’s logistics sector has seen impressive development. Logistics services have maintained an annual growth rate of 20–23% and contribute approximately 13–15% to the city’s GRDP. Currently, the city is home to around 250 logistics enterprises, employing over 170,000 workers. There are 60 large warehouses with a total area of more than 700 hectares, mainly concentrated in key seaport areas such as Dinh Vu, Tan Vu, Chua Ve, Hoang Dieu, and Hai An.

However, the current development of Hai Phong’s logistics sector has yet to match its potential and its role as a maritime economic center and international trade gateway of the country. Logistics costs in Vietnam in general, and Hai Phong in particular, remain high compared to other countries in the region. This presents a major challenge in improving business competitiveness. Supply chain operations among enterprises still lack strong linkages. The relationship between logistics service providers and manufacturing, trading, and import-export enterprises is largely fragmented and not yet developed into strategic partnerships that grow together. Many enterprises also lack a clear understanding of each other’s capabilities, products, and services, which leads to underutilization of mutual advantages in optimizing the supply chain.

In order to solve these problems, Hai Phong has issued specific directives to enhance connection and cooperation between logistics companies and manufacturing, trading, and import-export businesses in the area. The city is also promoting the development of closed-loop supply chain models, accelerating digital transformation, enhancing soft infrastructure, and especially focusing on the training of high-quality human resources to meet increasingly strict market demands both domestically and internationally.

At the same time, the city encourages businesses in logistics, manufacturing, trade, and import-export sectors to strengthen coordination and share cooperation opportunities. Particularly, it urges support for and prioritization of logistics services and warehouse usage provided by local companies. This not only helps develop the city’s internal strength but also lays a solid foundation for a synchronized, efficient, and sustainable logistics ecosystem.

Hai Phong also reaffirms its commitment to accompanying businesses by providing favorable mechanisms, infrastructure, and policies to support logistics development. The ultimate goal is to turn logistics services into a spearhead economic sector that contributes to the sustainable growth of both the city and the northern region.
