  • Vietnam’s Customs Clearance Go Digital: Boosting Trade Competitiveness

To enhance national competitiveness, Vietnam’s Customs sector has synchronously deployed numerous modernization solutions, procedural reforms, and technology applications, creating a comprehensive breakthrough in the management of import and export goods.

Key Breakthroughs in Customs Procedures:

  • Automated Management System: Implementation of an automated customs management and surveillance system at ports and warehouses. This eliminates manual processes, connects and promptly shares data between customs and port operators, thereby reducing congestion at gates and optimizing loading/unloading operations.
  • Improved Inspection and Supervision: Promoting the application of technology to automate inspection, supervision, and clearance processes for vehicles and goods crossing borders, utilizing modern equipment like container scanners, electronic scales, and automatic recognition barriers.
  • Electronic Customs Procedures: Widespread application of the National Single Window and ASEAN Single Window mechanisms, allowing all documentation and procedures to be conducted entirely online, reducing clearance time and resources for businesses.

Comprehensive Impact on Enterprises:

Thanks to this modernization, the clearance process is becoming more transparent and rapid. Logistics and port operating companies can optimize movement routes, reduce transportation distances, save fuel, and simultaneously reduce energy emissions from waiting times, thus contributing to the development of green logistics.

Future Orientation for Improvement:

The General Department of Customs will continue to review and refine customs laws, standardize declaration data, and build a centralized, intelligent IT system integrated with Artificial Intelligence (AI) to automatically classify risks and inspect declarations, moving towards electronic and paperless management.

ICD Nam Dinh Vu is committed to continuously updating the latest technology trends, synchronizing our Smartport system with electronic customs procedures (E-Customs), helping customers manage and operate the supply chain smartly, maximizing time and cost savings, and ultimately optimizing business efficiency in the international market.
